NSYNC PopOdyssey Tour 2001,
Hershey, PA, May 26th
a fan's thoughtsMay 27th, 2001;
Forgive me gang... me in pain! My legs hurt and my back hurts... I knew this would happen... just didn't know how much pain I'd be in. BUT.... IT WAS WORTH IT!!! Half tempted to drive back to Hershey and sit outside the stadium just to hear the guys show again and I might even do it when they come to Philadelphia... however, that's highly doubtful.
I don't have a voice! It's all gone... I squeak right now and my throat is scratchy, tickly, and raw.
The Pop Odyssey Feat Nsync Yahoo Club fan meet and greet was a little disappointing, only four people showed from the group and they only stayed minutes! But I met some others who stayed with me for a while (THANK YOU!) and MsJul came over and we hit it off! Hi JULIE!!! If you are a member of the club and were suppose to meet me, please email me at thetamm@yahoo.com. I have something for you that I was suppose to give you last night.
I need to start off by thanking god for keeping the rain away throughout the entire concert! From Tonya Mitchell through the fireworks at the end of the night, not a drop of rain fell.
I had to sneak both cameras in. They were not allowing any kind of a zoom in. So I lied and said it wasn't a zoom. And they didn't bother to check it. The were also using metal detectors. Some girls that were parked next to me actually managed to sneak in a video camera. I would have been TERRIFIED of doing that!
Best memory of last night... I have several... Here are the top 15 (ROFL)
1. (Tie) Seeing Joey & "GONE" & the version of "This I Promise You" (Grammy Style)
2. Seeing them all in the flesh 30 feet from me
3. Chris doing his strip tease ("Cut it out! My Gramma's here tonight!") lol
4. Seeing Joey with the teddy bear!
5. Mechanical Bulls - I WANNA BE THE BULL!!!
6. Joey reading fan letters... the first one he read the girls were in Section C.
7. Seeing Joey (aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh)
8. Seeing Lance - those green eyes baby! O M G!!! and muscles!!! SB... POOFU's been workin' out!
9. BBMak - Mark, Ste, and Christian were looking great!
10. Surprisingly, Tonya Mitchell... liked her... may get her CD
11. Seeing Joey (*sigh*)
12. Seeing Chris - he's looking REAL HOT lately!
13. Dirty "Pop"
14. Seeing JC - Everytime he sang his looooooooooooooong notes, I melted - I can't help it, I just love his voice! (And he was looking MIGHTY FINE... and could his pants get any tighter?)
15. Seeing Justin
Let me back up some...
I started out later than usual because of the downpour we were having, but that's okay... I picked up more film and stuff before I actually got out on the road. It rained until about 10 miles outside of Hershey and then it was drying up. Heavy clouds, but not too bad. I get to the parking lot and park under the number 37 sign... (oh wait... I made window clingies for the car so I put those on while I was back home. I'll try to make .jpgs out of them and put them up on I Wuv Joey.Com when I have the energy... I've got to take two of the 11 rolls of film I have to be developed to Wal*Mart soon). I still have to make the club meet n greet sign, so while I'm jammin to POP for the hundredth time, I do that as well as make candy bags for the meet n greet. So after talking to Trish and trying to call Angie, I decide that since I've got a few hours to kill that I might as well go into the park and get something to eat. So I ate at Pippin's where I called Trish AGAIN! ROFL... Good cheeseburger and fries and they gave me a Hershey's Kiss at the end of the meal! LOL I knew it was going to be a good day! :) Still no rain and I was prayin for it to stay away. So anyway, I ventured a little further into the park and went into the gift shops and such. When I came out of those, I found a few little KIOSKS to make my own souvenirs of the night, so I did. First stop... Dog Tag kiosk... My Dog Tag reads:
IWUVJOEY.COM
FICTION WEBSITE
POP ODYSSEY
NSYNC TOUR 2001
Then I get a pewter'd necklace from the next kiosk that reads "Tamm (heart sign) Loves NSYNC" on it... I
If you're going to a show that's near an amusement park like Hershey Park or something, one thing you might want to do is make your own unique souvenir that no one else will have! I'm so glad I did... they are something I'll cherish for the rest of my life!
Then I decide to go back to the car. As I left the park, I could hear sound check begin. I get back to my car and I hear the guys rehearsing "Gone" "Game Over" and "Dirty Pop", I called Trish during this too cuz I was bawlin my eyes out. Now mind you, it HIT (*THUD*) me hard on the way to Hershey that I was going to see JOEY for the first time in the flesh, but there's just something magical about hearing their voices live and where you could just be in their presence as they sang, I had to share that with someone, and Trish could understand me completely. It was like they were performing just for me the entire night. God, I hope I get at least one good picture of the guys. Just one out of the 6 or 7 rolls and I'll be happy!
The show started with Tonya Mitchell, mind you, I hadn't a clue who she was until last night, but I liked her music.
Next was 3LW... um, sorry... but at 14 you should not be wearing THOSE OUTFITS! Get them OFF THE FRICKEN stage!
Then came BBMak. *THUD* Mark was wearing this long-sleeved blue muscle-huggin shirt that just, um, really impressed me! ROFL... anyway... I sang along to every song. They were amazing (Ste and Christian looked HOT too!)!!! Great act to open up for NSYNC. Seeing them perform live got me ready for JOEY!
After BBMak was done, we had a 30 minute wait until the guys. The crowd was already in the building and the body heat took away the chill in the air (it was maybe 59/60 degrees out). I had some people in front of me from New York (also Richard Marx fans - YAY), a guy and his girlfriend on my left (I asked the guy how he got roped into the concert because he was obviously NOT happy to be there and he said... "Compromise... Hershey Park by day... the concert tonight." He was such a good sport!), and a girl and her auntie on my right, as well as a woman behind me who's been here to the site before (I apologize, I forget your name!). I felt so alone being the only one seeing him for my first time, but it was sooooooooooo much fun! We looked at the tour program and the other pictures, got the cameras ready, laughed about fan fiction and discussed IWUVJOEY.COM and RICHARDMARX.COM as well as just talked about where we were from.
I think this is the best picture I have out of four rolls so farWhen they came out from that pod thing and did POP 30 feet away from me, my two year journey to see them was complete. Oh, did I mention that during "Selfish", JC blew a kiss our way? Well, he did and we SWOONED! Yes, I did too...
I enjoyed every single song and when THIS I PROMISE YOU began, I called a friend and we enjoyed the moment together. It was from their grammy performance and it was just as beautiful.
The most amazing slow song of the night though belonged to Gone (sorry Richard). It was so good, it's undescribable for me to attempt. Shawn saw and heard and perhaps some of you may have as well, I know she may understand me about this. Fast song... um... Well... I'm partial to Space Cowboy now (I WANNA BE THE BULL!), but I'm so in love with the song POP right now, it was great! And of course, don't forget IGBM or BBB... both amazing... so it's hard to choose. But I do know that I'll never forget last night. Ever! I'm so glad I went... too bad hubby didn't go with me... Oh... speaking of which. As soon as I found my seat, I called him and thanked him because it was a really good seat! Also told the big lug I loved him.
Did I mention Joey Bum action??? Yes... during the band intros, when it was Joey's turn, he was doin a lot of BUM shakin! Crowd went nuts... me went *THUD*!!! Other bum action was when the guys were flying down at the beginning of "Space Cowboy", Justin was the closest to my side and he had his bum in plain view all the way down!!! Now, I didn't get any bum shots of Joey (ran out of film by that time) but I did get one or two of Justin coming down the line, I'll try to get those scanned in soon and posted.
MsJul and I met up after the concert and hung out in the parking lot for an hour and forty minutes waiting for the traffic to get out of the parking lot to die down. I decided to take the turnpike home because it was better lighting and had some rest stops if I needed them. Trish was called again several more times!!! LOL... Finally got on the road around 12:30am and then got home at 3am. Was in bed by 3:30 and slept until nearly 10am.
I left the setlist in the car but it was the same as Shawn's (Peachy) from opening night in Florida. When I find it, I'll put it up. (NOTE: I found it, but am having a hard time reading my hand writing! LOL)
The excitement is still here in this pain-filled body of mine, I'm still riding the clouds about May 26th and I'm so glad that I went. I can't wipe the grin off my face just yet, don't wanna, and I wanna go take a nap just to replay the night's events in my head, but for now... I'm gonna go check my email. I've got tons!!! Thanks for reading!
